The Guangzhou Opera House was designed by the world-renowned designer Zaha. Hadid (UK) led the design, located in Lot J4 of Zhujiang New Town. Its shape is "round and double", like two gravels placed on a gentle hill, which is very special on the side of the Pearl River. Due to the use of a steel-concrete hybrid structure, it is expected that more than 12000,6750 tons of steel will be used (showing the various types of gusset plates, support plates and auxiliary components added when considering the deepening design), which is equivalent to twice the tons of steel used in the dome of the National Centre for the Performing Arts of China.
